Community Treatment Aid

The Community Treatment Aid Program allows a bachelor-level provider to go into the community (i.e., home, school, etc.) for a few hours per week and assist youth and their families in dealing with behavioral concerns. The CTA's goal is to assist the primary caregiver and youth in acquiring the behavioral skills necessary to improve the youth or family's capacity for successful living in the least restrictive environment. The CTA will assist the family in implementing appropriate treatment interventions that are discussed in therapy. CTA services stress the improtance of creating and maintaining positive interactions between the youth and their caregiver. The CTA will assist the famiy in implementing behavior management strategies consisting of rewards and consequences. CTA services are available to youth aged 18 and younger.

Parenting Skills Workshop

The Parenting Skills workshop is based upon the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Model. Parent-Child Interaction Therapy is a research supported treatment for young children with conduct disorders. In PCIT, the emphasis is placed on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and modifying parent-child interaction patterns. During PCIT, parents are taught the skills necessary to create a nurturing and secure relationship with their child. In addition, parents learn how to increase their child’s positive behaviors and decrease the unacceptable behaviors.

This treatment focuses on two types of interaction: Child Directed Interaction (CDI) and Parent Directed Interaction (PDI). During CDI, the parent is taught how to interact with their child during play situations. In PDI, the parent learns the skills necessary to manage behavior situations that occur as they play/interact with their child.

Individual and Group Sessions
This workshop will contain both group (5) and individual (15) sessions. The group sessions will provide the parents with the training needed to conduct CDI, PDI, job card grounding, and time outs. The individual sessions will provide ample opportunity for the parents to be coached by a Bachelor level Community Treatment Aid. During these sessions, the parents will have one on one time to work on the skills they have learned in the group sessions.
